Fancy Fridays: Starry Night Inspired

To recreate this Fancy Friday, you will need the following as well as a small bevel brush. Optional are dotting tool and small gold beads.

  • Base Coat - Sally Hansen Hard as Nails
Start off by using a base coat to protect your nails.
  • Blue Base Color - Wet N Wild Fast Dry Saved by the Blue
Use two coats of your base coat or how many ever you need to achieve the darkish royal blue appearance. Make sure to refer to the painting every now and then as a reference guide.
  • Yellow Polish - Color Club Psychedelic Scene
Use the yellow polish and the small bevel brush to create a small crescent moon on one of your nails. (Preferably the ring finger, keep in mind that you are stretching the painting across your four nails.) Also, depending on the length of your nail will also be judgement as to how large you can create your painting. Mine are small so I'm recreating a small "C" for my crescent moon and dots for my stars. This is the main purpose of your yellow polish.
  • White Polish - Wet N Wild Shine French White Creme
Mix your yellow and white polish to create a lighter yellow for different shades of stars, this will also be the source of your swirls in the sky. To achieve the swirl, add white to yellow polish and mix them even when you run out just add the white on top of what you have left. The gradient will make it appear a lot like the painting. Also, keep in mind that perfection is not key here, make sure that some of the blue base color peaks out from your swirls. Messy is kind of a good thing. (I think the most important swirl is the one behind the cypress tree, refer back to the painting for any confusion!)
  • Black Polish - Wet N Wild Fast Dry Ebony Hates Chris
Use the black polish to recreate the cypress tree (most likely located on your index finger since it is on the far left of the painting). Using the same bevel brush, cleaned of course, create the thin top of the cypress and work your way down the nail or if you don't have as good of a control with polish do it backwards. Start from the bottom of the nail and use what's left on your brush to create the thin top of the cypress. Again, there is no such thing as perfection, just do your best. Also, I used this same black to recreate the backdrop of the town. I didn't bother to focus much on it as I felt it would take away from the sky. It is your option if you'd like to take this extra step. If you do want to, you'll need a little bit more of other colors as well as mixing of your base color like I did with the white and yellow for the stars but a bit of a larger scale.
  • OPTIONAL: Tiny Gold Beads
This is not necessary, but if you'd like you can add tiny gold beads as accents to your stars. (For me, this was the case since my nails are short) If you have longer nails you can opt for small rhinestones or maybe even star shaped ones if you have any. Same goes for the crescent, if you have anything like it, you're more than welcome to use that as an alternative. Remember, yours doesn't have to be exactly the same. You can always add your own touch of creativity to any design.
  • Top Coat - Seche Vite
You're now done with your masterpiece. So add your favorite top coat for protection and shine!
  • OPTIONAL: Dry Drops - OPI Drip Dry
For a quicker dry time, plop on this baby! I honestly feel that this also helps protect your design than just a good top coat.

FIN!
