Polish Sighting: Sally Hansen Fuzzy Coat

Sally Hansen's textured polish display part deux is their new Fuzzy Coat. They remind me of tinsel icicles normally placed on a christmas tree, except colorful and in nail polish! But they compare it to a fuzzy yarn ball. I haven't tried this yet but I do hope they aren't prickly to the touch and do end up nice and fuzzy. The Fuzzy Coat collection comes in 8 different shades by far: Pink, Brownish Nude, Orange, Purple(?), Green, Lime Green, Blue, and Black. They run at about $8 per bottle and I found this display at Walgreens but have seen them at CVS as well. I want to say that it may be a part of their contest, if it's still going on, this might be their theme for the month of June? I'm not too sure though.

Polishing Sighting: Sally Hansen Limited Edition Sugar Coat

Sally Hansen is almost always the "trendsetter" of the nail company world, in my opinion at least. They're always throwing out new nail polish concepts, for instance, today's Polish Sighting is their newest textured polish. They call it Sugar Coat, I call it popcorn ceiling. (LOL) Idk, if you all know what that is but in the past apartments I've lived in while growing up I remember them have bumpy consistency and this texture is just a trigger for remembrance of that! Anyways, this is a Limited Edition line and it comes complete with 8 shades. I haven't heard much about rave about these and from what I've read or heard it's an "acquired taste". If it's not obvious yet, I'm not too crazy for it but I'll eventually give it a shot. I got to give it to Sally Hansen, they're very creative, I'm not certain that they were first with this concept but regardless even their choice of colors are bold! They've got bright hues of purple, white, red, yellow, blue, mint green, pink, and last black.

Have any of you tried these babies out? Do you get any sugar dust remains after using them?

They've got themselves a nice set of 8 hues to make any age crowd content! Spotted these at Walgreens, have you gal gotten your hands on any of these shades? If so, let me know how they are! :D

Polish Sighting: Piggy Polish Spring 2013

Piggy Polish doesn't fail to be on trend. This Spring they released a glitter collection along with these bright polishes! These hues aren't too far from being neon, but they sure are adorable. They're priced at about $7.50 a little more or less varying in location and I spotted these at my local Ulta store. On top of that, they normally have a Buy 2 Get One Free on China Glaze and Piggy Polishes! So head on over to their website to get your hands on these bright beauties!

Fancy Friday: Bead Me Up!

Sorry guys, this week's Fancy Friday is still lacking an accompanying video. >__<; I know! I'm sorry, but next week they will be back! Anyways, this week we're dealing with a few tedious necessities: microbeads. So let's get on with it and you can recreate Bead Me Up which looks something like this! I got my inspiration from a Japanese nail magazine! ^_^ Also, excuse the poor photo quality... *sigh*

The following photos are what you'll need to make this design on your nails. The first photo is my base coat, top coat, and dry drop. (These are very dire for me). The second photo are the polishes I chose. Then, the last two photos are what I added for the design to my nails.

  • Base Coat: OPI Nail Envy
Starting off with a base coat to protect the nails. This is, by far, my favorite base coat. I actually see results using these on my oh so delicate nails!
  • Base Color: Wet N Wild 2% Milk
For the base coat, I did just one coat of 2% Milk. This is just to polish my nails, instead of using my regular nails for the half moon effect. So this color is my favorite for a natural looking polish for my skin tone and it's somewhat of an opaque consistency.
  • Accent Color: Revlon Colorstay Provence
And then, my accent color is Revlon's Colorstay Provence, a light lavender polish. Since I'm choose very subtle colors, it'll be hard to really distinguish the half moon effect but that's exactly my point. I don't want such a drastic color change. Anyways, start painting your nails by leaving a half circle unpainted against your cuticles. You can easily create this with no problem if you use nail strips to have a cleaner finish. (Like the ones you would use for a French Tip except reverse its direction). I put about two coats of this polish.
  • Second Accent: N.Y.C. Scandalous Blue Glitter
Then to create an iridescent effect I layered on N.Y.C.'s Scandalous Blue Glitter on top of my whole nail. Yep, my whole nail, then I put a second coat on just the accent color. And a third coat at the bottom third of my nail. (Like you're kind of creating a gradient).
  • Microbeads: Gold Microbeads
Once you've completed that step, use a dotting tool to outline your half moon with Gold Microbeads. Do this to all of your nails. To be honest, this step was pretty tedious and took the most time. But the outcome is totally worth it.

  • Rhinestones: Pink & Purple Teardrop Rhinestones
Next, I used Teardrop Rhinestones to add more color to the design. I chose to create a purple heart on my thumb and ring finger. I just placed two purple teardrop rhinestones right next to each other. And on the rest of my other nails, I created a pink fan by placing three pink teardrop rhinestones next to each other but making sure that they are slightly curved.
  • Top Coat: Seche Vite
When you're happy with your results, generously slab on your top coat. Make sure to get all around the beads and rhinestones to seal them in and not them run off!
  • Dry Drops: Sally Hansen Dry Drops
Then to not dent or ruin your nails while waiting for them to dry. Top it off with Dry Drops to harden and seal in your polishes in a shorter amount of time.

Polish Sighting: Sally Hansen Magnetic Nail Color

Sally Hansen's been on a roll with their limited edition collections. Remember those magnetic nail polishes though? (I honestly feel like not many people were "attracted" by this bandwagon. Haha, get it? Yeah, okay, I know, lame. -__-;)   Well, they've made it more appealing by creating more magnetic designs and color shades. First seeing these magnetic nails, I was truly intrigued, but when I first got the chance to use it I found that it was only okay. I wasn't crazy about them, you really had to work fast before the polish dried or else the iron in the polish wouldn't be moveable by the magnet. Anyways, this nail collection is complete with 5 shades: Comic Blue, Slate Spark, Purple Magnitude, Pink Force, and Atomic Alloy. The designs are more intricate but I don't really see many people still jumping this hype. What's your thoughts on the magnetic polishes? Does it have leave a strong attraction for you that you might want to try out these limited edition ones? They priced at approximately $8-10, if I'm not mistaken.*Please excuse my blurry photo.

Simple Sunday: Sprinkle Me Some 'Fetti

Happy Simple Sunday everyone! ^_^v I've decided to do a gradient effect with the Sinful Colors Almost Famous Collection and I took the opportunity to also try out my Mini Haul: Nail Supply Store products.

I started off by using the China Glaze's Shape Shifter from their Tranzitions line as my base color for the Sinful Colors' Glitters Collection Lush Life & Star Dust. Creating a gradient between two glitter polishes isn't that difficult as long as you have a base color that they can both easily blend into. (Pretty much, any color that won't be obviously visible.) And I topped it off by featuring OPI's What Wizardry Is This from their Oz the Great and Powerful Collection as an offset nail just so I can test it out...

Thoughts?

China Glaze Tranzitions: I like the concept of two toned polishes that changes with the use of topcoat but at the same time I feel that also is its downfall. In my opinion, it leaves an uneven finish on the nails or maybe even layering wise. If they really wanted to market this idea more, I would think a larger variety of colors would be nice.

Sinful Colors Almost Famous Collection: This limited edition glitter line is pretty cool. So far, I'm loving the choice of hues they've provided, their affordable price tag, and the variety of glitter sizes amongst the bottles. It's really clever and makes polishes more fun to use.

OPI Liquid Sand: I'd have to say, I'm just so-so on liquid sand ordeal even though it is something totally new and different it takes getting used to. It kind of takes "sand" a bit to literal for me, during the drying process (which felt longer than the average polish) you can press on the polish on your nail and see it "sink" like real sand would and easily leave dents. Maybe I'm being quite bias since I would much rather prefer being top coated but regardless I'd expect my polishes to be completely dry especially I even have a fan on in my room.

Bargain Finds: Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear

For you Sally Hansen loyalists, there's a pretty cool Bargain Find at most Walgreens for the month of April! As part of their I Heart Nail Art Contest, Sally Hansen has their Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear Polishes for 2 for $5 and if you're lucky enough, maybe you can score a manufacturer's coupon on top of that steal!

I guess this can be part Mini Haul of Sally Hansen because I didn't pass up this deal on top of my employee discount! :P I grabbed colors for my nail design that I chose to enter in for their contest.

And if you haven't seen my previous post. Sally Hansen has been holding a contest every month since January! It's a different theme every month and April's is Color Blocking! You get a chance to win $500 and a round trip ticket to the Big Apple! I took my shot and entered my plain jane Eye Popping Color Blocking Braid in! Mini Haul: Sinful Colors Almost Famous

Who can resist a little sparkle in their life?! I've come to realize that Spring 2013 nail collections are just a mix of everything, from neons, to pastels, to glitters, to different finishes. You're good to go with what you've got! And you can add to that glitter collection of yours for a couple of bucks now that Sinful Colors came out with Almost Famous, a Limited Edition Glitters which I'm pretty sure you could still find if you look around. The set is completed with 8 different shades which I'm sorry I don't have a complete photo of.

What I did pick up though out of the eight are these four shades: Lush Life, Poparazzi, In The Spotlight, and Star Dust (left to right order). They're super gorgeous; and although I somewhat despise the removal of glitter from nails, I can't help but want that extra shine to my designs whenever needed!

If you've got some Almost Famous glitters share them with me, I'd love to know your input on them! & Please don't forget to head on over my Facebook page at Kolorful Nails! Have a wonderful Saturday! :)

Mini Haul: Wet n Wild Coloricon Toppings

Still feel like your pastel mani's are too bland for your spring time nail get ups? Well, you're in luck because glitters are popping up like easter eggs! Today's Mini Haul is Wet N Wild's Limited Edition Coloricon Toppings. Photographed above are the two I picked up, Sprinkled with Love and Gimme Some Suga' but the whole line consists of six toppings. Yes, toppings, it's not nail polish perse but a sheer glitter topping. It is, of course, buildable if you choose to use it on its own. So if you're looking for some umph to add to your nail decor, this'll be your go to aside from nail stickers.

If you're into glitter, I'd say head on over to your nearest Walgreens and see if they still have them in stock. Or I would suggest giving the Cosmetics area a ring instead of driving over there and ending up with nothing. They go for about $2.99 per pop! (Tell me they don't look like cakepops and I'll call you crazy! :P ) And If you guys get your hands on it, let me know what you guys think about it too!
